I just got finished doing a compression test on my 96 LS, and results were appox ~ 150 across all four cylinders.
Are these decent numbers? They seemed a bit low to me, but Im not sure.
TIA,
-Will

On my 94 LS I got 180 cross all four give or take 2-3 psi. Your rings might be lighting alittle go by but all are even so that is good. If you pour a little motor oil in each cylinder they should all jump up a lot.
If they're all even through out, you might want to check valve clearance.
If you are burning oil constantly then you have bad rings.
But whatever is happening it's nothing but normal wear and tear.
Also, different test equipment and method would yield different results.

This is an old thread.....
I forgot to hold down the gas while doing the compression test, thus yeilding slightly lower numbers.....
I did a search
and found my answer.
thanks anyway though.

I have a 99 and got 185-190 across the board...... its all relative, compression numbers dont' tell you much of anything unless 1 or more are WAY off from the rest.
Do a leakdown and find where your leaking if you care. My compression numbers were fine, but after a leakdown I found I was leaking 4-9% thru the exhaust valves on #2 and #3 cylindars...... nothing major, but not happy either.
