compression test...a couple of questions....
i just did a compression test today (95 GSR)...120.135.130.130....which i REALLY low after searching other peoples number. I also did the wet test and my numbers jumped to 210-220. Which makes me think that my rings are going. But when i searched it said that I should have tested at WOT and should have pulled my fuel pump fuse. O and my engine was VERY cold. Does it really matter if i didn't do these things? Making my numbers THAT low?
I dont think it should matter that the motor was cold...but you definetly need to replace those rings...maybe time for a rebuild with some nicer internals
do you think its only my rings? and would my rings being so worn...wouldn't it make my motor run very rough? my motor still runs strong...no burnt oil...no smoke...makes me wonder if it really is just my rings....

well how many miles are on the motor...thats the only thing i could think of..

Engine should be warmed to normal operating temperature. The pistons rings and valve seals will expand under heat giving the best seal resulting in the best number for compression. Testing should be done with WOT. If not you will get poor results. and yes pull the 15a fuse (F/I ECU) and crank the motor through as many compression cycles as it takes till the needle ont the tester no longer rises

That's pretty easy...
1) Engine should be warmed up completely.
2) Pull a fuse or unplug the injectors - you don't want gasoline.
3) I unplug the distributor so the coil isn't trying to fire. I'm not sure if this is important...
4) Wide-open throttle.
5) Keep cranking until the gauge stops climbing higher. That might be 6 or 8 compression strokes on that cylinder.

Exactly...#s will be lower when the car is cold. You need to make sure the motor is @ normal operating temperature, and pull the fi/ecu fuse so no fuel is involved. I wouldnt crank more than 10 times or so...by then, the guage should be peaked.
