i'm running a fully built '99 gs-r with JE 10.5:1 pistons and a mugen head gasket with a milled head (i'm kepping the list short and sweet). i'm at about 11.2:1 now and make 199whp. it runs on 91 octane and is very reliable. i would not exceed 11.5:1 as detonation will occur unless you can run a higher octane fuel. sucks in cali...91 octane is the highest...before race gas of course.

excuse the off-topic comment here

what the heck ? u people in the U.S. have 91 octane (the highest) gas?

i live in greece , and our choises of gas are : Unleaded 100 (rare) , Unleaded 98 , Un leaded 95 , Super (98 octane , not unleaded) , Disel .

i use 98 octane on my 93 teg .

is there some kind of law in the us regarding higher octane gas?

ok time to break up this noobie thread lol

93 octane here in IL is the highest, some places have 94... im running 11.4 right now, and ive seen motors up to 13:1 CR running on 93 octane, as long as it's tuned correctly...

if you're going all motor and you want power, search

I believe in Europe they just post RON. It's not unusual to see a spread of 10, so the '93' I can buy here in Ohio can easily be 96 or 98 RON unleaded.
