One of my friends bought offbrand ebay coilovers and used them with his stock struts on his 98 civic ex and he really likes them. They're nice and stiff, a little bouncy though. But you get that with a lot of coilovers.

Do you know how long the stock shocks last if you use coilovers other than stock?

What if I only drop it like an inch and a half would that still take out the shocks and struts pretty quick?

I would strongly reccomend going with some KYB or Tockiko sp* struts and just change them all why you've got the car up.

just to let you know you could go with a TRUE coil over for about the same price as a cheap slide on coilover and kyb strut or tokico

Yeah Im thinking about just doing it all out with good quailty parts. I was asking all the questions because a friend of mine has some Bomz Racing coilovers just lying around at his shop that he was going to give me. I was hoping just dropping it a little with the coilovers would be okay.

hell if they are free, I'd take them and swap out shocks for Koni.. :D

or you could just do it right and buy Koni w/ Ground controls, next best thing to getting full coilovers

Yeh you should be fine with springs on stock shocks, the drop with coilovers is normally a bit lower than springs, but I know people that have coilovers on their stocks and still haven't blown them, including myself,so I really wouldn't worry too much, besides if you were to blow them you could always upgrade.

True the only problem is I go back to college in August so my funds will be kinda low if you know what I mean lol. I dont want to have to go to my mom and ask her to pay to fix my car. But if you have ran your setup for a while with no problems then I dont see why I cant?

I still say buy shocks. Koni or KYB so you don't have to worry about it and you get a better ride. Plus better handling.
