I have a 2000 B18C Integra motor, a few weeks ago the engine started sputtering where it would briefly lose power while driving. I pulled the Coil, it had burn marks all over it so I replaced it. The problem completely went away for about 2 - 3 weeks, but today started doing the EXACT same thing again on my way to work.

The coil I baught was from advanced auto (after market)

Could it be that I baught a bad coil? Or could this be something else? (ignitor?)

Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks!

 

When you say "started doing the EXACT same thing again" does that mean the burn marks on the coil?

If so, redo your main grounds, DO NOT just eyeball them, disconnect/clean/reconnect the batt. to chassis and chassis to engine grounds, may as well also do the termostat grounds while your at it.

What spark plugs do you have and how old are they?

Test/replace the coil, yes brand new parts can be DOA, advanced auto can test it for you.

Are you sure the problem is no spark?

Are you using an HEI spark tester to test for spark, if not you should have.

What is the fuel pressure, when was the last time fuel filter was replaced?94

 

I would inspect the cap+rotor along with fcm's list, reminds me of the many a time they wore out, but my coil never got affected. Is the distributer OEM Honda ?
