is it possible to get a check engine light from retarding the timing a little bit also now once in a while ill get a little hesitation sputter could this be what its from? when i turn the car off the light goes away

 

did you pull out the code? what is wrong? there is trick you can do it DIY. get a paper clip and look under the passenger side under the glove box. there should be a plug that cover with green rubber. take it out and stick paper clip into both plug. then turn your key to NO. engine like will be blink . do a search for the code.

or you can just go to auto zone for free engine light check.

its hesitating because you retarded the timing. ud be surprised how much of a difference a few degrees makes

 

ok i put the timign back to normal and reset the ecu and the check engine light is gone but once every couple hours it will sputter till i mash the gas it will liek hesitate.... could this be spark plugs, wire, or cap and rotor any other sugestions on what it might be
