my friend has a ls in his civic and he told me that check engine lights come on only on integras when they need a oil change

 

Your friend is not knowledgable about cars.

in Helms manual, they say that change oil every 7,500miles with 3.7-3.9qts of motor oil

but you probably have heard that most people oil change their cars at roughly 3,000 or so? some BMW and Mercedes and Lexus GS or IS do at 5k miles..why? cuz they are lexury cars...hardly drive or get abused

but why do we change our oil at 3k miles...cuz we want to keep our car lasts longer and,,,,if you wait until ur engine check light on to change oil...that probablly around 10k miles when oil is really low but til then you block and head is GONE, its just like you dont drink any water for 2 or 3 days and you almost die out...doing this alot = death...

so change ur oil at 3k to 3.5k with new filter...dont listen to your friend...i think he got jelous about ur car and trying to break it by giving bad advices

 

Well there is a CEL and then there is the maintance rezired light. the CEL is if there is a problem with the car. The maintance required light is to tell you to do an oil change or to have the scheldued factory service done.
