Check engine light code 22, VTEC System Malfunction
Hey guys, I have a problem, as of last week my check engine light came on and is flashing a 22 which means VTEC System Malfunction or Pressure Switch. Anyone had this problem know of a quick diagnosis, what to check for this code? VTEC still works however the light is still on. Thanks
check oil level.
it is actuated by oil pressure and if you do not have enough it will not function properly, this is the first thing I would check.

Go in the engine bay - look at the vtec solenoid - see the green plug underneath it? check the wiring and make sure its snapped on there tight. - also your best bet is oil level, vtec cant function correctly without the oil beza flowin!
also, since the subject of oil was brought up
it is a good practice on any car with over 100k miles on it (which your 97 probably has, unless you bought it from someone that didn't drive it) to check the oil level at least once a week. hondas consume lots of oil, I would suggest each time you fill it up at the gas station.
true it is not a really old car, but that motor has lots of miles (probably hard miles), you have to treat it with some TLC

Ok I got an oil change and checked all the vtec solenoid connections, seems like their on there good, I reset the ECU after the oil change and the check engine light is still on, the engine only has 17k on it and like I said, the VTEC still works, any other ideas?
THE LIGHT IS STILL ON! I need to know how to check the VTEC pressure switch or any other things that might be causing this ****. any info would help, thanks
