check engine light came on!
I got skunk2 stage 1s installed today at autolink motorworks, they also adjusted my valves, advanced my timing and adjusted my throttle. About an hour or so after driving my car, the check engine light came on, so I took it over to auto zone for that free test that they give. They got a code of 172 which means my car is running too rich! Should I just get a fuel pressure regulator and lower my fuel pressure? If so what should I set it at?? One of my friends said to adjust the t/b so I get more air into my motor, but since I already got it adjusted should I just leave it alone? The car feels good though, but what should I do? thanks in advance. btw its a b18c1

rich? I would think you would be running too lean. What kind of mods do you have? and what kind of Ecu do you have? I think the code for running lean and running rich are the same code. At least I know it is for OBD II. We just put a CTR intake cam in my brother's 99 Gsr and his check engine light came on too. When we looked up the code it said running too lean or too rich but since he has the stock Ecu and we never added any fuel then we assume too lean. We just put a fuel pressure regulator on, so we will wait and see how that works. Late.
I have i/h/e ported throttle body, the cams and gears. And yes it is obd2. I saw the list of the codes and 171 was too lean, 172 said it was too rich. Would adjusting the throttle body help at all, by letting more air in? Or am I better off lowering the fuel pressure? I saw a post a while back that said when installing skunk2 stage1s, you needed to lower stock fuel pressure (43 I think) on a b18c1 to 40psi. Can someon correct me if I am wrong. Thanks guys for the help!! btw ecu is stock p72

thats what I thought too, another thing, I installed a ported throttlebody the day before I installed the cams. I didnt mess with it at all, a friend of mine said to adjust my t/b so more air could get in. Would it be better to do this or just buy a fuel pressure regulator and lower the fuel pressure. btw the light turned off so does that mean my motor is no longer running rich?
