its a hard thing to say. but overall the stainless steel is better. BUT if you could get cast iron and polish the insides and make it to the dimensions you want then that would be the best.

better in what sense?

I thought the ceramic coating was to help with heat dissipation. no?

Re: To Ceramic or not to Ceramic (RacerXintegra2k)
there are pro's and con's to both... assuming the same brand/model line, etc... the performance gains are pretty close/identical...

there is a price diff of approximately $100 +/-

the SS header will be made of stainless steel whereas the ceramic is most likely made of mild steel and ceramic coated..

the ceramic usually stays the same greyish color whereas the SS will turn brownish, orangish, purplish after it heats up w/ use

the SS will probably last a bit longer so if you plan on keeping your car for a long time or running it to the ground.. then the added cost (about $100 or so) of the SS will be worth it..

not sure if the SS weighs more than the ceramic.. it might.. dunnoz..

the ceramic should give off a little less heat in the engine bay...

these are just some random comparisons and may not apply to ALL header brands/makes, etc...

go with ceramic. basicvally just paying for the color of the SS. i dropped a lil oil on the SS and it messed up the finish, lol, and i was pissed. so i said **** it. now i got jdm 4-1 for my gsr !

stainless steel wont rust. ceramic coated headers are made of mild steel which when the finish wears, will rust. plus s.s. is stronger and harder to dent.

and cast iron may weigh more, but hold heat better then any other types of metal. and the hotter your header stays...the better it flows.
