cel question
i did a search and read them all but found nothin to my question...i installed a testpipe yesterday to use until i find a high flow cat that will fit what i need...anyways i drove for about 25 miles and now i have a cel...i havent jumped the ecu yet because it happened on my way to school i will jump it when i get home...i am guessing its going to be one for my secondary o2...my question is if i got a jumper harness and converted to obd1 would this cel go away...otherwise what can i do to make this cel go away...any way to fix it? another question is if i need a 12 inch high flow cat...anyone know how long a del sol cat or any other cat close to that length?
thanks a lot
by the way my car is a 99 gsr

If you convert to OBDI and maintain your primary O2 sensor you should not see a CEL using a test pipe. There's an interesting article regarding O2 sensor simulators written by Michael Delaney at:

thanks for the inf timone...i just got in from school and im going to go jump the ecu to make sure it is an o2 sensor thats throwing the cell...the car hasnt gone into limp mode or anythin...seems to be running perfect to me
ok...i jumped the ecu....got code 67 which is catalist efficiency low or catalist failure...this is what i thought it would be...like i said car is not in limp mode i just dont like looking at the light...what are some ways to fix it...anybody know?
thanks for your help
thanks for your help
Put in a cat(preferably high flow), build an O2 sensor simulator, or swap to OBDI. The change to OBDI has the added benefits of allowing you to use "performance"(gas guzzling) chips or Hondata(preferred). The cheapest solution is to remove the CEL bulb, but obviously then you wouldn't know if something "serious" was wrong with your car, till it was too late.
yeah i think i will just convert to obd1 so i can have added options for tuning my ecu...i will look into the simulators too...someone told me i could switch the o2 sensors around...anyone know of this as a temporary solution...thanks for all of your hlp timone...i appreciate it
NP. You can switch the primary & secondary sensors around all day, but it won't shut that little light off. If there's a tempoary solution it would be wrapping the secondary in foil, then plastic, & tie strapping it to something. I've also experimented with different resistor values across the signal wires(green & white) from the secondary sensor.
