CEL code 41.. need help!
Code 41 has nothing to do with the cat. Unplug the 1st O2 sensor, find the two same-colored wires going to the sensor. You should measure something from 10 to 40 ohms between those 2 wires, and there shouldn't be any continuity from either one to ground.
If the sensor checks out fine, you have to check out the circuit. You don't say what year car, so...? One of the wires that mate up with the heater is supposed to get battery voltage from the main relay (yellow/black??) The other one goes to the ECU. Look for a broken wire somwhere? Or maybe a short to ground in the ECU wire?
The rattling cat is not related. First check out whether it's just a heatshield rattling. If not, then maybe the A-pipe is buzzing. That's a pipe-inside-a-pipe, and the inner one can buzz against the outer one. Finally, take off the cat. If it's really rattling inside, get a new one.
