car update
Alright, some of you may know I just recently got my '99 GSR and haven't been able to mod it at all yet. This past friday my apt. mate and I went to a track here in Michigan and I decided to take a few runs to see how much driving help I need, and to get a feel for the 1/4 mile ( my first time at a track ). Anyway, my best run wasn't anything special... I pulled a 16.3 which happen to be my first run. The other two runs I guess I got nervous or whatever and when it came time to shift into third I kinda fudged it. I think it was because my shifter *** was turned slightly in to the left. Anyway, I'm probably going again this weekend to get a bit better.
As for my car being stock... that should all change soon. I just finished ordering an aem cai... more for the sound and look that for performance, and a skunk2 catback. I'll keep you up to date on the installs and try to take a lot of pics. I'll also keep you updated on the track times and my progress both as a tuner and a driver.

right on yo.
I've had my GSR sedan fro abotu 3 months and I went to the drags and on my first run ever in a GSR I ran a 15.8 then I pulled a 16.0 after that. Then it was too busy to run again but taht was bone stock. So just keep on practicing and you'll get there. I woudl say a 15.5 i na STOCK GSR would be a good run that seems to be about right but then again it depends on the driver. I've heard of times as good as 15.3 in a stock GSR so you never know.
Good Luck!!

glad that you're having fun with your teg.
you just need to get used to your car.
you'll do better next time...keep modding on.

Yeah, I just actually got into car this past September, and didn't even learn how to drive a stick until October. A month later I was the proud owner of a '99 Civic Si... sadly that car was wrecked in February, but it all turned out okay as I now have a '99 Teg. I never really had enough time to get a good feel for my Si. I feel more comfortable now behind my Teg then I ever did my Si... and I'm sure the catback and CAI will only help to make me feel more at home. Eitherway I'm probably going back to the track this Friday to try and hone my skills. Mods or not!

shoot, as of Tuesday at midnight my new parts haven't shipped... looks like Friday is going to be another stock night at the track. Probably shouldn't complain though, I should get to know my car a big better and try to trim some tenths off my time.
also, I think my next "mod" is going to be rims and tires. I'm hoping to get a deal on some Konig wheels, but if that doesn't happen what does everyone recommend? I'm thinking either 16's or 17's and would like to fit at least a 215 tire, if not 225. And for the tire I was thinking some Yokahama Prada Spec 2's let me know what you all think.

Alright, so today is the day that my Skunk2 catback is schduled to be delivered (and it is), and I'm so excited by opening the box that I can't wait even an hour before putting it on. So me and my roommate head out to have at the old exhaust system. With a few difficult bolts holding us back, and those darn hangers that we finally mastered holding us up we got the old system off in an hour and started to put the new one on... only one problem IT DOESN'T FIT!!! I ordered what was listed as the proper exhaust on both tornactives.com's site and Skunk2.com's site and when it was shipped it ends up that it's for GSR's model year 00 and 01 nothing earlier, and it's about 4 inches too short. Anyway, the old system is back on and I have to wait a few days to figure out how it's going to be fixed. I'll keep you posted and let you know.

So, I don't know if anyone is even interested, but I'm going to keep this thread going and keep updating you all on my car and it's progress. I finally got the correct Skunk2 catback today and putting it on went quite easy. My roommate and I had the old exhaust off and the new one on in less than an hour. First thing is first, the look of the new exhaust is awesome. For those of you who have seen your ugly stock exhaust replaced with a shiny, polished, stainless steel one... yeah, you know what I'm talking about. Then the sound of it was awesome. For some it might be a bit loud, but for me it was perfect, and it's so clean and consistent... it's great. It also adds a little punch to my car, which is always welcome.
I'm still waiting on my AEM CAI, but once that comes I'll be ready for another encounter with the track. I'll also be posting pics and stuff of my car soon for those of you who are interested.
Also, my roommate is the owner of a '96 Nissan Altima, we are in the middle of converting it from an automatic to a manual, and installing a turbonetics T3/4 turbo on it... it's looking pretty sweet and I can't wait to see if fly down the road when it's done.

i would stick with a 16 or 15 inch rim 17's look a little too big and there is the rubbing issue.....oh wait you arent lowered.....your car will look even stranger in 4x4 mode with huge wheels on it.....215's will rub if you lower the car and 225 is not gonna work on the teg..... i am running 205/50/15 kumho ecstas and still have a little rub every now and then........good luck at the track and with the car
My first suggestion is this. Upgrade your suspension before you get rims and tires. And if you plan on getting good times then stick with 15's or maybe 16's. No 17's. Get a good suspension setup and you'll be a lot more happy and the car will feel tons better
. Also, if you want good times just practice your launches (post your time slips next time) and also try and nail your shift points down. Try taking out some weight too if your real serious. But definately suspension before big *** wheels. goodluck in your process and can't wait to see pics.

Awesome, I'm glad to finally have some people posting their feedback in this thread. Most of you guys know what you're talking about and any serious advice is welcome. As far as the wheels or suspention issue, the only reason I'm planning on getting rims first is because my tires are getting quite bald, and I am looking at getting prada spec 2's for my summer tires, but I don't wanna go spend that money to put awesome tires on my stock rims that I will only be running for one more year at best.
Also, after much review I'm planning on going with 16 x 7's, overall I think that's the best bet both performace, and style wise. I want something light, in either white or silver (not crome, silver). I also am thinking something either 5 or 6 spoke, just because that's more my style. If anyone has any sugestions for a good rim please let me know. Oh, and I would like to keep it under $200 a rim.
In the event that I do happen to upgrade suspention first... what does everyone recommend. My roommate has tokico blues, and I was thinking about either those or tokico whites. I haven't heard to much about other struts, but if you have had a good experience with yours let me know. In the next week I'll try to post some pics of my car, and the time slips from my first track visit a few weeks ago.

Eibach pro kit and kyb agx are great suspension wise. It really depends on what your goal for the car is. Drag, AutoX, Road racing? Tein's are a little pricey but I've heard they're worth the money.
Update:
First of all the pics of everything are coming soon. I've just been busy with work and helping my roommate install his turbo. I also wanted to say I now have the AEM CAI on and it's pretty sweet. Bolt on's are awesome because they totally change the way your car sounds, and give it a bit of a performace boost. Anyway... pics in a few days, and hopefully new time slips in a week or two.
