Default Car is surging...

So recently my beater, '90 LS Teg, has started surging. I can't figure out what is causing it. If i keep my foot on the gas steady it will surge by about 200-300 rpm's and is noticable on the tach and you can actually hear and feel it. It also will do it from a dead stop. It feels as if it is bogging down then all the sudden it picks up and goes. Since this has started the gas mileage has also gone down....i was getting about 300+ to a tank and right now im lucky to get 250. What could be causing this?

When was last time you did a good tune up.
Have you replaced fuel filter lately? What about cap and rotor?

well all the ignition stuff, distributor, wires, and plugs, were replaced before i got the car about 6 months ago. The only thing that i have changed that could possibly have done it would be the injector. One of the injectors had a horrible leak so my buddy, who works at a performance shop as the head tech, gave me an injector and since then, i think, is when it has been happening. I was told by him to pull the plug and see what color it is compared to the others. Also, im not sure when the last time the fuel filter was changed.

An update.....i replaced the plugs and fuel filter and the problem still occurs. The plugs, cap, and rotor are all ok so it must be the injector i guess...i am getting another one by the end of the week to try out and see what happens. Other then that i have no clue what the hell could be causing this.

One other problem is that sometimes, in the morning usually, when i start it up the car will blow a ton of smoke, appears to be white but hard to tell, for about 10 sec then it stops and doesn't happen again. This is also a problem that started when the surging did but only happens sometimes....any thoughts?

if you hook up a 9v battery to your injector it will open it.just find one of the connectors out of one of your kids nephews ect toys and hook it to a peice of spare harness you cut out. spray carb clean through all of them and if ones bad
it will hardly spray anything comared to the rest.
