Default Car over heating

hey, so my car is over heating as the topic stated. i have replaced the radiator and bought new hoses. so i start the car and let it idel for about 10 mins. warms up just fine, take it for a test run and seems ok, but when i pop vtec it starts going over. it gets hot and eventually crosses the "H" on the temp guage. luckly i was only a few houses from my house. i know it's not the temp sensor b/c i can smell coolant burning. where might this leak be? some friends say i might have to change all the gasket on my engine. i want to be sure before i do so.

How many times has it "eventually" crossed the "H"...? It's not good for it to get there even once, but anyhow... I'd check all visual things in the engine bay... Check all hose connections, check radiator and over-flow level... Check for and oil/coolant mixture in both the overflow and under the valve cover... Does the car smoke...? If so, what color is the smoke, etc...? Do the fans come on...?

yea hoses are brand new from the dealer and clamps are on. no smoke is coming out. i dont see any coolant / oil mixture so i'll go with the blown head gasket. i'll change that first and see from there. thanks for the help.
