Default Car decelerating by itself

This is the 2nd time this has happened in 3-4 months. Driving down freeway like usual doing about 80 and then it just decelerates. I'm mashing gas pedal but no response. I switch lanes. I don't know if putting it in neutral and back to 5th helped or not but it just started acelerating like nothing happened. Same thing just happened about an hour ago. I was also doing about 80 this time i was accelerating pretty good. Thanks for the help in advance.

I had a car where this happened and it was the fuel filter.

Cheers,

That's probably a fuel problem, either your filter is clogged or your fuel pump is cutting in and out... check the connection. I'll regret saying this, but is there gas in your tank?

Then check your plugs, wires, cap, rotor, oil, etc. It's most likely minor.
