Default cannot downshift to 3rd

as title says i cannot downshift into 3rd, when car is moving. i can shift up through all gears fine with slight grind in third and fourth at high rpms. downshifting is fine thorugh all other gears but when i try to put it in 3rd while moving it feels like the gate is blocked. same feeling as if i am trying to shift into 3rd without engaging the clutch. when car is stationary i can shift through all the gears fine. i searched and found some info but nothing with exact sypmtoms. all help is appreciated.

First, check the level of your transmission fluid. If that is fine then your synchros are going.

In the meantime, double-clutch when downshifting and it shoudl work for now. If that doens't work give the gas a tap when you downshift into 3rd, sometimes that works.

Cheers,
Roy

i filled with gm synchromesh yesterday and bled the clutch. i forgot to mention if i double clutch it still wont go in sometimes if i pump the clutch repeatedly it will go in the gate. i had a suspicion it was a synchro but wanted to check. thanks roy
