cams and what else.....
ok here it is: bolt on 1995 integra GSR with 135,300 on odometer....im and planning on buying new cams and gears , ither snunk 2 stage 1's or just JDM ITR cams with AEM gears but ither way ,will i be able to use the rest of the stock GSR valve train(i.e vavles, springs..) with out any problems with running it semi-hard ?or just to be safe go ahead and upgrade everything?. I am kinda new at honda scene but my step brother is going to help me do everything, but i figured i would figure it out to help my knowlegde...so any advice is helpful
You won't need titanium retainers, just get some dual valve springs though, they're cheap about $150 shipped for supertech, RM, omni etc. And get some aftermarket cams, i.e. Blox type A instead of the CTR cams, unless you're getting the CTR cams for really cheap. Blox type A's go for for like $300-350 brand new these days, just as good as Skunk 2 stage 1's.
both cams you mentioned are drop in cams meaning no valvetrain upgrades are required. im sure you could find some ITR or Skunk2's on here for a good price, dont forget to get tuned
my .02 on cams
If your not going for anything really hott, liek some skunk2 stage 3's.. I'd stick with ITR or CTR cams.
#1: they make power.
#2: you can't touch OEM honda parts quality. You know it's gonna last.
Thats the reason I went w/ITR cams: I know they are'nt junk. You can run the ITR cam's w/the GSR springs (some guys do and have never had a problem) but IMO, thats asking for trouble. Guy you a set of ITR intake springs and just swap over the GSR intake springs to the exhaust side.
Now, when you do that, go ahead, like your planning, and get you a single runner IM (like skunk2 for example).
Then, you have to buy an ITR throttle cable/bracket and pulley either from an ITR or an LS/RS/GS.. Any non-dual runner B series IM.
And, if woudl be stupid to help your engine rbeathe better, only to choke it down w/stock exhaust.. So you need to upgrade your header/exhaust to complete the system. Get you a 4-1 header so it will compliment the higher powerband your gonna have from the ITR cams and IM.
Then, to realize the potential, you MUST MUST MUST have yoru car dyno tuned.
Here is a dyno from a guy I know who dynoed his car last weekend...Mind you his car was street tuned on the first run and then the next run was after he tuned it on the dyno. He picked up 7 hp and 5 lbs of tw w/dyno tuning over his street tuning.

Skunk2 IM
Buddy Club exhaust
DC sports 4-1 header
Aem intake

And that 's w/STOCK GSR cams. I'm hoping to hit mid 170's w/my ITR cams/cam gears and whatnot.

Yes you will be fine, just make sure you set both cam gears to 0 (no advance or retard, just stock timing).
Also I don't know if I would go with AEM cam gears. Have they changed their design on them? They used to have only 3 bolts and were known to slip sometimes.

STR, Buddy Club, UGR, Full Race...they all have cam gears and im sure there are more that im missing. im personally going with STR now called BDL. Oh yah new AEM cam gears are 5-bolt now
I'm going w/Fidanza. They have the 5 bolt design.. which I feel much better about than the 3 bolt AEM's I WAS gonna get
Picked em up for $100.00 too.
Their $180.00 new

itr/ctr cams can be used on the stock gsr valvetrain if you keep the stock gsr rev limit. if you want to rev higher you'll need itr intake springs like mentioned earlier. i would just go ahead and replace them while you have the head apart anyway.
