Cam install instructions???
Where can I get instructions on installing a set of aftermarket cams in a B-series DOHC VTEC engine? I have a set of cams and cam gears and I want to install them myself so I can learn from the whole experience. I figure there's probably a site somewhere with detailed instructions. I remember seeing such a site about a year ago, but I don't know how I found it. Someone help me.
I'm thinking about doing one myself. The install isn't that hard, and takes less time than the valve adjustment portion of the install. There's just a few key points that you need to keep in mind.
I just popped Pinhead's '00 ITR cams into the car the last couple of days. I'm just waiting on an air compressor and pneumatic to get the crank pulley off and finish the timing belt.
THe C-Speed install is more of just a guideline instruction. Nothing real specific.
The C-Speed instructions don't mention anything about the upper back cam cover which has to be removed along with the cam/cam gear assemblies at the same time if you don't remove the cam gears first before trying to take the cams out (which is kinda hard if you don't have an air ratchet or a small impact wrench).

Yeah. The distributor key for the intake cam (and the intake cam itself) are offset, making it assymetrical and fits correctly only one way. If you look closely you can tell. The side on the distributor with the line on it connects with the big-end of the intake cam.
Advice is to double-check to make sure that the camshaft is keyed in properly, or remove the distributor completely (easy - only 3 bolts and a couple of wiring harnesses), and then set the engine to TDC #1 and then reinstall the distributor at the end with the distributor rotor facing the bottom left corner (fires cylinder #1) when looking at the rotor.

BTW, there's also a good install tip from somebody in the ITR forum. I'll see if I can track it down and link it.
