Default Cam decision....

I have a 91 LS, b16a2 motor with just a Tanabe catback, removed intake resonator , and a VAFC (traded a friend an extra set of wheels I had for it) . I have been looking into a set of Skunk2 stage1 cams, or the ctr/itr. What would be the best choice with my mods... or lack thereof?

Im going to say that the S2S1 cams are better overall. They are more aggressive, so you'll need to raise your vtec point a little, but since you already have a vafc that shouldnt be a problem.

I have heard nothing but good things about them, especially the stage1's on a mild setup like mine. I just wonder if not having a header and intake will really affect the performance of these significantly. The vtec x-over is at about 5200, I thought that would be just right.

I wouldn't go with anything crazier than ITR/CTR cams without raising the compression and mild tuning. It's also not recommended to use any aftermarket cams on the stock B16 valvetrain.

I did forget to mention that I will be using the ITR valvetrain with the setup.

Being that you're at stock compression and only have the VAFC to tune with, I have to recommend going with the ITR/CTR cams.
