A/C switch as a Kill Switch?
Hey HT, I would like to know if anyone has tried to wire their A/C button to have it be used as a kill switch? This would be a good idea because basically a thief would not think that a kill switch would be an AC button, kind of like hiding it in plain sight. Basically if anyone has a diagram or anything that tells me which wire on the climate control belong to the A/C that would be great.
PS: Does anybody know if the A/C Button can handle the load from a Main Relay kill switch?

lol so are you telling us that if "said thief" want's the A/C the car will cut out. or do you mean you push it every time you exit the car. just sounded funny picturing it in my head

Find a Helms manual with the wire diagrams on it.
As for the switch itself, be sure to wire it to a relay so that the relay is handling the current to the starter, and not the A/C switch itself. That would be a good way to burn out that switch quick, because the starter draws a LOT of current.

The A/C switch can be used as a kill switch, I have done a few of them.
On Integras, the A/C switch supplies a ground, if blower motor is on at any speed.
I use it to latch a "latching relay" and the relay can be used to "cut" any lead.
The advantage is both the blower and A/C switch must be on to latch the relay, kind of a double redundant kill switch that is "self arming" each time you turn off the ign., [as long as A/C switch is off. 94

I've seen these done a few times, but could never figure out how they're done.
I knew this kid that had it in one of his climate buttons and like a turn signal or some thing but he would never tell how he did it.
Very interested in how you do this, my ol' fuel pump cutoff isnt enough for me

I do have a "stealth switch", [can be any switch in the car, even if used for something] that is the neat thing about having a switch latch a relay.
EG; you can have A/C and still use the A/C switch to latch the relay and that applies to any switch in the car, pos.(+) or neg.(-) output, momentary switches, [CC set/resume , ect] have an advantage over on/off switches as you can not forget to turn them off.
There are a number of ways to make latching relays, Google is your friend. 94
I do not have A/C in my Integra, and I am not using the A/C switch, for anything.

Im self debating about how everyone should know this info and not know it at the same time. We dont need this becoming common knowledge.... I vote thread gets deleted on grounds of being too good! Now Im going to do something similar.

this won't work, I mean it will work, but a smart thief is going to push every switch on the dash when the car doesnt start. I've seen modules where you have to use a sequence with a switch in plain sight, now that makes sense, whether the thief finds the switch or not, they still dont know the sequence

As a stand alone kill switch I would not recommend it but as a layer it works, don't forget a thief is in a hurry, once he cranks the engine, [makes noise] he's not going to want to hang around very long, definatly not long enough to try every switch in the car
Besides with an A/C switch, both the blower and A/C switch need to be on.
And anybody that thinks this is to only place to find this info is kidding themselves. 94
Whoever said a thief is smart.

it was going to go like this Main Relay-->A/C Switch (blue/red)-->Main Relay

some of the manuals are dirt cheap if you browse amazon/bookfinder/allbookstores/ebay.
even saw some helms for fairly cheap (and some for $200).
i snagged the chiltons acura coupes/sedans for $2.50 and the haynes civic/integra for $3.00. :w00t:
