Default Where is Waldo?

Okay! Not Waldo but ...It's more like where is the A/C Diode? I need pictures because trust me I looked just about everywhere and just can't it. Why am I looking for this?

The fans not coming on nither when the a/c is running. I did the test on the relay, fuse, sensor. I think all I am left with is the a/c diode and the fan switch. Hoping it is the a/c diode since I ordered the part.

It says to be on the right side kick pannel. So.. The battery was taken out and nothing, so the fuse box was next and still cant find it!

All that is left is under the battery plate. Due to many years and a few acid drops, the battery plate bolts are not moving so I was unable to take out the plate. (new one on the way) This is the only place I think it can be. Any help (pictures) will help if it is not under there! Just in case-94 RS thanks!!

THe diode is part 1 in the diagram.

According to the Helm manual, it is located above the right (passenger) kick panel. It appears to be taped to a wire loom.

Hey, Dogginator..(sorry for the tilte)

Trust me I have seen the diagram and also have the service manual but can't find it. That is why a picture will be worth a million bucks here. That is why I am thinking it has to be under the battery plate. Anyone else wanna jump in? You would think it willbe easy to find but I have seen a few website on other honda boards that have yet to answer this question.....So I am not alone

If you pay attention to the diagram you posted, you would realize it is on the right of the evaporator and the blower motor, under the glove box like it also says in the diagram (located above the right kick panel) Just above the ecu and wiring harness. Its not in the engine compartment. I would take a pic for you but right now Im out of town and don't have my Teg.

Found it!! (pics later) What a pain in the butt to try and get it out. Still haven't got it out! Not sure what is worst...Looking for this or trying to get it out. The wiring harness moves about 1 mm. Oh the fun! Why the hell would they put in there so far back..need smaller hands.. Thanks guys! Anyone know of an easy way to get it out?

So, I finally got it out! I see why so many folks couldn’t find it and even on the diagram stated where it was at it was hard to find. And one of the reasons I looked in the engine thinking the right panel was the fuse box and it was close to the firewall.

Anyways, I took off the glove box. (Thanks all-mtr-teg) And found it after a few mins. Just wishing it wasn't all the way back there and you really can't get any tools in there to try and pop it out! (Sort of) I got a small screw driver and got it out by push it on the edge slowly. Then use another tool(icepick) to finally get it out. It is a pain in the butt. I got it out and will wait for the part to arrive. Either way I’m luck that I took out the battery and found that plate at the bottom is rust away; the new one is on the way as well.

Here is the Glove box out and you can see the A/C diode!

Another pic closes up!

1more

And here it is!!!

The tool aka the icepick that got it out on I got it on the edge to finally get it out!

That looks to be a pain! Any thoughts on how to reinstall? Have you checked the diode as outlined in the Helm manual?

Anyway, see why I changed the thread title?

Good luck.

It should be easy to reinstall back in. Just push it back it untill it clicks that wont be a problem. I didn't check it as I don't have the tools. Might as well get an ohmmeter with a diode test for future use on parts. Or might as well wait till the parts gets here in 2-3 days......Oh, wait till the rains stops and I might look for one... Yep! I know why you changed the thread title-might help others out when looking for it..thanks!

I headed over to Sears and pick up a craftman multimeter with diode test. And looks like that diode is okay!(okay its working) Either ways I was going to send the car to the shop for a new oil pan gasket & since they are doing that I also bought skunk cam seal for no more oil leaks on the cam side. (3 o-rings vs none on the OEM) Since it will be in the shop late Friday/Saturday might as well let them have the fun in getting the fans to run and I will report back what they did. Must have missed something. I guess if I have time I will double check the steps and see if I missed something and get back to ya!

The diode is fine!

Anyways it is not the diode that is the problem on mine. It is actually the Radiator Fan Control Module. Got a replacement from the wreckers and now it is working perfectly well.
