Default A/C compressor question

awhile ago i toook my gsr engine out and drained everything out of the air conditioing system.....well last summer i bought a jdm gsr engine which came with a mint compressor...ive had the car running without ac for the past year so the compressor pulley has been running but has never been turned on....i recently just installed all my a/c lines with a new reciever drier...but have not recharged the system at all so its completely empty and im not sure if the compressor has oil in it....well i went to turn the ac on just to see if it would kick over but it doesnt...if recharge the system and put everything back in should the system reconize theres refrigerant and oil and be able to turn the compressor on or does it sound like the compresor is shot? thanks guys

Default Re: A/C compressor question

The compressor will not engage is there is no refrigerant in the system, [or if refrigerant charge is too low].

The compressor should be removed and drained of any oil, install the proper amount of oil, start by adding 2oz of C4 oil to compressor, turning the clutch clockwise as you add the oil, stand the compressor on its end, [clutch plate] for about 15 min., add 1/2 the oil charge to the compressor and the other 1/2 to the filter/dryer, replace O rings/seals.
System should be under vacuum, [vacuum pump] for at least 45min, 1 hr is better, then charge with the correct amount of refrigerant. 94
