Brake Problems. Quick Question
I Put axxis ultimates on my car a while ago...few months. The backs didnt fit, they were a lil too big, like mms.. So I took a file and shaved the metal parts so they would fit. Well, I think I shaved the right side too much. I Though brake pads should fit loosely...I guess not. It has been dragging for a while, and the drivers side rear has worn out more then the other side. My braking isnt as good as it use to, and I dont wanna **** up my front ones. Quesiton is, I still have my stock ones in the basement, got some meat on them. Can I put stock brake pads in the back, and keep the axxis ultimates in the front till I get some replacments?
I liked the axxis ultimates, but wasent happy that the backs didnt fit right away. Yes, they were the right part numbers, we are talking milimeters people...just enough to make they not fit. Let me know, thanks guys.

I've had to file MetalMasters to fit, but never as much as one mm. It was more like the thickness of the black paint - maybe 0.2mm? Are you sure it isn't the caliper slide pins that are stuck? That would be unrelated to the pads.
I bet it'll be OK to put the others back in. I had MetalMasters in the back for a while before I changed the front. I didn't really notice any problem.

did you change your rotors also when you changed the pads?
you'll be fine to keep stock pads on the rear and upgraded ones in the front, hoping that you have a better than stock rotor also. But then again, it depends on what you use the car for.

I put brand new OE brembos on too. I use my car for daily driving. I use my car for work, so braking is important, but i need something that will last a decent amont of time. Any suggestions?

Well, just my suggestion, is to focus on good front rotors and pads over the rear. You car is biased more to the front brakes than the rear.
On my own car, I have the EBC slotted and dimpled rotors up front, with EBC Red stuff pads. They've seen approx. 6-7k miles so far, and have seen one 20min track session. The stopping power was greatly improved over stock, and they seem to be holding up well. Looking down through the wheel, there is still a lot of pad left. And, the only time I seem to get a buildup of brake dust is when I'm really pushing the brakes to their limits.
As for the rear, I went with some Brembo slotted and drilled rotors (they look kinda fancy
) and I currently have some OE replacement pads from Auto Zone. They were cheap, like $16.00, and they carry their lifetime warranty. So, whenever they're shot, I go replace 'em for free. I am going to consider upgrading those rear pads to EBC pads, not sure whether to go green or red yet.
So, I guess, as far as your situation is concerned, the Brembo blanks should be fine (i'm guessing you have those up front?) and a good set of pads. I'm partial to the EBC pads myself, but those are really the only harsh pads I've ever used. Hawk and Axxis are also well known to be great. So, maybe shop around, price compare, and get some more opinions from people that have used those pads.
I wouldn't be too worried about the rear, they will not wear as fast as the front does. Just make sure the e-brake cable is properly adjusted, and both the rotors and pads are in good shape at the same time of installation or else one will destroy the other.
Hope that helps you out.

So ya, Brembo OE blanks on all 4 corners. I took a look with the wheels off today. It seems like I filed the rear left down too much on the edges, and it was dragging. Ill put OEM pads back on, till I get another set of something decent. Then Ill get the rotors in the back machined down because the draggin kinda fucked them up. Ill take pics if I got time tomrrow, Long day tomorrow. Finishing the stripping of my wheels, then painting them.
