Brake Problems
Hey guys
Can anybody help shed some light on this.
i have a 99ls integra, it was sitting for approx 6 months.
everything runs fine, but the brakes just suck. i am not getting the
same brake response like i use to. the pads are new, i just bled the whole
system. i checked for vacuum leaks, everything seems fine. i drove it, thinking that it just needed some time. however none of these things seem to have solve the problem. i am beginning to think maybe my calipers are going????
anyway if anyone can help me out with any ideas i would appreciate it.
thanks in advance

Sorry for the lack of clarification.
Kendall thanks for the input.
i flushed the system already.
the master cylinder seems fine, there seems to be plenty of pressure and
i am not expierencing a "mushy" pedal.
when i hit the brakes, i find myself having to really press the brakes
to stop the car.

i wonder if the Booster is bad or maybe the master cylinder seal is leaking. Have you seen any fluid loss anywere including under the dash on top of the brake pedal where it attaches at the firewall ?
thanks jerome.
No i have not seen any leaks in any of those places...
my co-worker recommended i do a closer inspection on the calipers
he told me there might be some build-up of residue on the moving parts of the caliper from sitting around too long.
i cant do this until friday, i will keep everyone posted.
thanks

yea definately not a leak. or a probelm with ur master. most likely the calipers frozen. does it try to pull right or left when you hit the breaks. also, when you leave the car sit for a while the rotors rust and you need to drive it a while to wear the rust off before you will have normal braking.
brolli
it does not pull left or right when i brake
i was actually hoping that all i needed to do was drive the car for a while
and brake, bu that was def. not the problem either

hey guys
latest update, i was up until 2am working on the brakes
i lubed the pins and the pistons seemed to be stuck. i started pumping the brakes to move them. i did this a few times. i reassembled and it made a difference, i still have to press really hard on the brakes but not as much. i am hoping over time this will subside. any other thoughts??
thanks

latest update....
i am 99% sure the calipers just need to be replaced.
i went to autozone and ordered 2 new front ones. it came out to
like 122 incl tax. with a 57.00 core change. which is pretty good imo
thanks for all the input, i hope this fixes it
