Brake light switch??
Hey guys my Tegs brake light will work off and on. I have realized its the toggle button switch where the brake pedal is. Sometimes it will work fine or i will have to bang or jam teh brake pedal for it to come on. of course I am not slamming on the brakes and stopping suddenly but just enough of a hit for it to come on.
Anybody know how hard or how much it would be to replace cause I dont want to have to end up getting rear ending because someone didnt see my lights on.
Also anyone know the name of the part?
I found the part, but why are there 2 different prices for them, its like $15 for the one without cruise control, and than like $55-75 for the one with cruise control.
does it really make a difference and are they interchangeable cause i dont even use my cruise control anyway, so is it possible to use the other one?

It's actually pretty simple to change out. I don't know how much it costs at all though. Check your local honda/acura dealership. Shouldn't be that much though.

Get on your back in your driver's floor board. Follow the break pedal up to the switch. It screws in, and has a plug, unscrew and replace.
$54.10 List price
I'll do $40 + tax SHIPPED. New OEM

Does it make that much of a difference if i use the one withough cruise control cause i went on advcanced auto parts website and they go for $15 while with cruise go for 60. I barely use cruise control...so would it be much of difference if i used the one without cruise?

I appreciate it alot, but i dont plan on keep the car too much longer. i just want my brake lights to start working again.
But they are the same parts and interchangeable right?

not trying to thread jack but that switch ur talking about. is it in a round hole in the brake pedal? cuz just recently my brake lights were stuck on and i saw a hole in the pedal. i blocked the hole but i could tell something shud be there. is that the switch and wat does it look like
Ok, I will try to explain this the best I can. I have pictures but here at Acura they have my photobucket acct. blocked.
On the pedal bracket is where you'll find the switch... If your brake lights have a hard time coming on then your switch is bad. If you follow the brake pedal up you will see the switch in the braket.
The Pedal pad grommet if what is at the top of the pedal itself, usually a little white/clear piece which presses up against the switch to turn the lights on, etc.

The pedal pad is white. It's a little rubber/plastic piece that "when the brake pedal is pressed" presses up against the switch to engage the brake lights. It can decenegrate *spelling* causing your brake lights to STAY ON. Just replace that. $3 at Acura.
The switch is on the pedal braket and if the lights/cruise aren't working ever, or hardly, that is what's bad, or going bad.
