bouncing speedo needle!!

Default bouncing speedo needle!!
the needle on my speedometer bounces around a lil and makes a lil scratching noise wat causes this??

ICM (igniter) gives the tach signal, not the speed signal. speed signal is provided by the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) attached to the top rear portion of the transaxle.

If the OP has a 90-93 integra. The speedo cable probably needs to be cleaned and relubed up. they will stick and cause a scratching noise as described.

just get a new speedo cable...
i paid 12 for mine at honda..
its a PITA but worth it

Bouncing speedometer it could be the wire harness for the VSS it could be the VSS itself, check those.

The VSS is on your transmission to the left btw it is held down by 2-3 bolts and has a black upper portion with a plug.

check the VSS harness plug. thats usually the problem with corrosion
