Wondering if anyone has done this in california..
Take a b20 block.. shave the engine code stamp down, round out the edges, and either do a replicated stamp or basically engrave 'b18b1' onto the block.
Has this been done?
And if so, would the b20 still stand out because it's bigger or has extra ports on it?
I'd love to have one of these in my 'teg but not have to bite my friggin' nails during smog checks and highway patrol encounters.

thats illegal and not worth it if you get caught. don't forget theres also a VIN tag. I don't think you'll find anyone on here who has done it or will admit to doing it. You're better off boring and sleeving your motor.
i currently live in cali and have a b20 in my teg. if you're looking to do this ur currently in luck because all the referee stations in cali are closed so if u get a ticket its "sorry judge, brought my car to california like this but because of hte budget deficit i cant get it renumbered." once the budget does open the ref centers back up its just taking it down there, having them take a look and say "yup, its not gonna create an emissions problem" and paying about $200 for papers and a sticker.
thats the legal way to do it, found that out directly from one of the tech's who's working for california consumer protection offices

i'm sure it is illegal.
on a non-obd2 honda however, there is no VIN tag to speak of in the first place.
I know this because i did my research, and i also got ripped off on a b18b swap before for the civic i had, no vin number on the thing.. turns out that honda wasn't stamping the things on until 1996, at least for the b18b1.

I have a feeling that in a month or two this loophole will be closed. certainly not enough time for me to save up for a b20 swap but thanks for the suggestion.

Coming from someone who got a little uneasy taking off the valve cover and only has one car and no garage, i think once you factor in paying someone to remove your block, rice it up, and put it back on, it's not really worth it at all to do a stroker motor. Maybe if i knew what i was doing, but still a newb when it comes to actually taking apart the engine.
