If i want to put 82 mm pistons in my gsr would i need to have the block sleeved also or can i go without doing that? The compression would be 12:1. thanks

Default Re: Block Question (GSR95T)

Stock bore on your GSR is 81mm. So yes, 82mm will require you to bore 0.040inches over.

I'm not quite understanding what you mean by "having the block sleeved." There are stock sleeves in there. Honda recommends not overboring the stock sleeves more than 0.020 over (which is what is typically necessary for a hone/wall repair).

Thus, if you wanted to go more than 0.020, then you might want to go with stronger aftermarket sleeves. In that case, such as with ductile iron sleeves, you might as well go up to 84mm. Really no point to go lower than that if you can (unless you have the 82mm pistons already in your possession).

In most cases, (or all ), this will cost you a grip of money. So you might want to re-think that if you only want to go 82mm. You can go 81.5mm and save yourself close to $1000 by keeping the stock OEM sleeves and just boring them to the Honda recommended 81.5mm or 0.020 over.
