Default Bitching@AEM (big brake kit)

First of all, I want to start by stating that I have used my powerslot rotors for over 60k without any problem and I should have buy a new pair of new powerslots instead of changing to AEM big brake kit.

I purchased the brake kit for my 96 integra on Nov 02. After 6months of usage, my car started to shake everytime i laid my foot on the brake. I called AEM for help and they suggested me to resurface those rotors. After paying $40 dollars to resurface them, the vibration went away for 2 months. I know the problem was caused by any installation procedures because I am very familiar with installing brakes after working at Wheel works for two years and installed countless new brakes on diff cars.

I have sent my rotors back to AEM for warranty a week ago(cost me $30 to mail it back) and I have still yet receivie my replacement even tho the person said it will only take them about 2 days to look at the rotors and replace the broken parts.

My point is, aside from the extra $70dollars I paid for the resurface and mailing fees; this brake kit isn't exactly cheap. This kit has been giving me nothing but hell. Now that AEM is replacing the rotors, I will have to buy new pads since the old AEM pads (another $70) were messed up by the old rotors(the whole pad doesnt sit onto the rotor). With all these extra costs, I'd think i would be better off getting a real big brake upgrade kit at first.

Also its inconvenient for people to have their car sitting on jack stands for over a week. I sent it back with two day mail because I am trying to get the parts back ASAP but AEM keep on lagging on the replacement.

did you break them in properly? the larger rotor should hold up to heat and abuse better than any stock sized rotor but if not broken in right you will have problems

Call AEM and talk to Kirk. Explain your problems and see what he'll do for you.

In my experience, AEM has been very understanding of situations like these.

High performance and aem "big brake" kits dont go together.

If you more braking performance go with some regular blanks and more aggressive pads and fluid.

How did you resurface drilled/slotted rotors??

If you are serious about braking, these are the best available for 4x100 Hondas. Unless $2000 for a Brembo kit is more you're style...

Wilwood Dynalites. $680 from Summit Racing. More racing history and technology can be found in these brakes than AEM could ever dream of.

Yah, I have always wondered about how to resurface those cross drilled / slotted rotors. Is that even possible?

im sure there are better kits available yes this is not being denied or questioned

but someone logically tell me why a larger rotor will hurt braking performance?

If you didnt upgrade the caliper along with the rotor then you might run into problems...

arent you meant to have your rotors cut when changing brake pads anyway?

Why are you complaining?

How did you upgrade your brakes to ITR specs. Doesn't ITR use 5 lug wheels?
