Default bent valves????

so i went to go get a second opinion on why my valves were ticking so loud and automatically lifting @ 3500 rpms. the first guys said they were fine, jus abnormally loud...second opinon said they were bent valves...obviously they need replacment but what else should i replace? are the retainers and springs still usable? i really dont have the funds to completly build my head, i just want it running right! thanks for the help

How did the valves potentially bend? Did you over-rev the engine? Did this noise suddenly onset?

sorry for the weak discription. i actually bought the car with a obd0 b16, its a 1990 DA.. after throwing a rod throught he block, i decided to put the head on an ls block. even with the b16, the valves were loud...after swapping the blocks, i brought it for a valve adjustment for two reasons, one: just swapped the head, and two: they were really loud and didnt osund right. so i guess theyve been bent..i just want to really know if i should replace any other internals?

Perform a compression test. It will quickly diagnose bent valves.

You'll have low compression in at least one cylinder. You will then have to pull the head. Sorry.

Typically you replace just the bent exhaust valves. Bent intake valves are rare. If you are planning on upgrading springs and retainers, that would be a good time to do it.

You still need to confirm that you have bent valves. Does the car run poorly at low RPM and misfire at idle?

at low rpms, the idle jumps around and kinda bogs until i get passed 2000 rpms, then seems to run normal (still loud and liftin completely after 3500)... this also only happens when the vehicle is warm...
