back pressure!
i whent to a shop today to look at exhaust systems. i might sound like an idoit to some of you out there and im sorry. but if you have an auto tranny dont get bigger piping on your car you will lose all of your back pressure and you will loose hp. just to let u know.
Your transmission has nothing to do with the power output of your motor
you don't want any backpressure. Bigger piping reduces the velocity of the gases, creating a high pressure. If you engine is stock 60mm piping is best. You want to optimize exhaust flow and exhaust pressure. If you have exhaust gases with a high velocity you are creating low pressure which is vacuum which helps suck exhausts gases out.
If your FI then that is a different story.

the guy you talked to is a retard.
The best way to make power is using the correct size piping and use as little restriction as possible. So dont go too big on the piping and use a straight through muffler and high flow cat.

If you put too big of exhaust piping on your car you are going to loose HP. Your going to slow down the exhaust velocity. Your not losing backpressure your adding it.

i put a cat-back racing medalion on my gsr..don't know if it's bigger diameter..but WAY lighter, and less bends..picked up a LOT of power from it..put in the baffle..way more torque.but less top end..with the baffle in
yah some people are idiots...i had some guy tell me once that a catback ruins your car. He said the bigger exhaust lowers your TQ so low that it makes your car much slower than stock.
