b20 vtec!
wassup guys im building a b20 vtec, i have a 95 gsr head, but i have a big question, they told me that i have to get aftermarket valves or i can use the same ones but they have to cut em cus they to big and that if i leave em like that as soon as it hits vtec im gna blow up the motor, so i wanna make sure that if thats true, so before i proced wit the project does anyone know how much they have to cut em, cus i dnt wanna spend more money on buying valves.... thank you
A B16 head is better for a B20 due to the shape of the combustion chambers. The valves do not need changing. The people that told you they did need changing probly meant that the valve notches in the non-vtec pistons are smaller though. RS-Machines has vtec style pistons for a B20.
well, im kinda new into this honda scene so idk that much bout this, that why and no the guy told me that i needed to cut the valves or get aftermarket and that he had some he would sell em to me for 200 bucks, so thats why i asked here and make it clear before i procede wit the project

im doing b17 head nd b20b block but ive never heard of the valves being cut. the only way the valves should be cut i believe is when you take it to a shop to rebuild a head. for example new valves and everything. i was told that they would have to cut the valve are so that the valves would seat right. this was from ptunning so dont take it from me ask them. and thats if you get bigger valves as well. stock valves need to mods
My b20 vtec (R.I.P.) had longer rods (sorry not specific) with supertech pistons. It ran fine for my first amateur build. i also had a gsr head with type r cams. other than that the valvetrain was stock. Had no issues myself.
yeah cus the cr its running pretty good and everything but i want it to hit vtec but im kinda scared of blowing it up, you know..... so you guys are running your engines wit vtec right? and there no issues at all???
