What would cause a stock (at least I think its stock) 97 GSR to not rev past 6400-6500 rpm's?
Well to put it into perspective this is how it goes... I bought my 97 GSR in december of 03, The way my car is right now is the same as I bought it, the only thing I have done to it is lower it 2 inches and put a 98+ front end on it, but I didn't do anything to modify the engine, Buuuuut the previous owner did. When I bought the car is had(has) a VAFCII, short shifter cai, and fuel presure gauge on the fuel filter, thats the only thing I had noticed done to the engine, and its the only things the previous owner told me he did. But I think that he wasn't be totaly truthful. First off, given the mods that had been done to the engine a VAFCII is pointless to have installed, but I don't know if he knows/knew that or not.
7-8 months after purchasing the car, it started hesitating really bad (not all the time though), by this time I had noticed that the settings on the VAFCII had been changed, im no expert but it seemed almost as if the person who tuned the VAFCII knew what he/she was doing, I think? Anyways, I had to replace my battery and when I did't the VAFCII must have gotten reset or somthing because the settings now were all back to zero(the fuel settings for wide/partial throttle), so I read the manual and re-installed it so as to work with my GSR but with the fuel settings for wide/partial throttle still at zero. Ofcourse the car kept on hesitating and at sometimes it would just stall out nomater what rpm's the engine was on or how fast the car was traveling, and then I had a hard time starting it back up, I would have to wait 5 min or so till it would start back up, and when it did start back up it sounded like **** and didn't want to rev past roughtly 3500 rpms or so. Since then I have gotten new spark plugs and wires, and less than a week ago I put on a brand new distributor. The car then ran a bit different, better id say, but now a whole lot better since it still hesitated every once in a while, keeps staling on me, and most of the time now won't want to rev past 6400-6500 rpm's, But all that is with the VAFCII pluged in, when I unplug the VAFCII the car runs REALLY SHITY! and really rich, so rich infact I get light headed from all the fuel in the air!
but sometimes it will rev past 6400-6500 rpm's but still runs shitty.
thought or opinions?
any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Sure have, infact I check it every week. I does burn a little oil but not enough to see smoke coming out of the exhaust, so I check the oil every week and put some 10w 30 full syn mobil1. And I know that vtec will stop working if the oil presure drops. Ohh and another thing I almost forgot, I hear this nasty griding noise every time the engine comes in and out of vtec.
