Default B18C1 Crankshaft question

Are there any differences in crankshafts from 94-2001 in the B18c1 motors or are they all the same?

TIA

I think sometime ('96?) they went to a crankshaft sensor for the spark timing. It's behind the timing sprocket. Maybe they had to do something to the crank to make room for that?

The CKF sensor by the crank/timing belt drive gear is a crankshaft speed fluxuation sensor. It helps to determine if cylinders are misfiring. It's not used for fuel or ignition timing. That stuff is still left up to the CKP and CYP sensors in the distributor.

The only difference b/w the crank assy on that side is the timing belt drive gear and a slight difference in the keyway placement.

OBD-I models have the keyway machined into the inside of the timing belt drive gear. You only need to make sure that the keyway is facing away from the front of the motor.

OBD-II models used a gear with extra teeth for the CKF sensor and required one keyway.

OK that makes sense. I don't have that, I just figured the CKF sensor would take up space or need its own keyway or something.

Thanks for the detailed response. I guess I should look for the OBDII cranks to keep everything the same.
