B18C or B20
I have a B20 non vtec..
but i also have a B18c vtec that needs a rebuild.
Would it be worth it to rebuild it, and use it??
Which do you think would have more power; or should i take the B18 VTEC head and put that on the B20 block..?

Def build that B20 with the VTEC head on it. B20 over all is a stronger set up than B18c. plus VTEC head. will have a powerful bottom and high compression upper end. just make sure to run higher compression forged pistons such as Wiseco or CP with forged I-Beams, unless going turbo then lower compression and H-beams. dont foget to polish and balance the crank though.
hope this helps!

personal experience: b18c for rebuild. b20 are good and have potential but their thin cylinder walls need to be resleeved if you plan on boosting it or go NA high compression. For me I'd rather start with a proven platform: b18c all the way.
Yea, i hear that, but also when you build any engine, tuning is a part of it, therefore no matter what engine you would build you would need to dyno it, besides you should go with Hondata most of the shops who carry them, have all the mapping and preset tunning ready to upload, since your not only one with B20/Vtec,therefore you wouldnt need much time spent on the the dyno or tuning
i would argue the point about thin walls. i have built and been around shops who built B20s and seing 220WHP with out resleeving. i guess depends on the person who is doing the build and what parts are being used.
but if you are going to use that b18c, you should still use the b20 crank to beef up the bottom end. and of course polish and balance it. this could be cheaper, and have a good motor. i currently have nonVTEC b18b1 bored out to 2.0 resleeved with forged Wiseco 84mm 11.5 c.r. pistons and forged i-beam rods with fully redone head, not including all the other bolt on **** lol ive taken type r's and any other VTECs out there. so choice is yours. just pay attention to all the parts and DO NOT GO CHEAP on them. otherwise asking for problems down the road, obviously all gaskets, seals and bearings should be OEM honda, nothing like the OEM.

If you're going to stay NA, the B20 VTEC is your best bet, but if you plan to boost, then you'll want to pick up an LS, GSR or B16 bottom end. The B20 has weaker sleeves than the other B series engines which makes it a bad candidate for a piston/rod built bottom end without expensive sleeving.
NA = B20 VTEC
Boost = LS/VTEC
NA = B20 VTEC
Boost = LS/VTEC
Everyone in here is right and wrong ;
Yes the b20 has bigger displacement and puts more tourque along with a b18 vtec head equals best of both worlds.....but weaker sleeves in the long run
The b18c has a proven ground reliable and goood compression....lets not forget these motors(b18c) where meant for performance.......and again you said you would only be rebuilding it.... a lot easier.
And last its up to you what you want it for N/A....Boost....DD ....track car....Auto-x....or even flying to the moon.

If you can afford it, the GSR longblock and tranny are the best combo IMO. It can be good NA and great on boost. Now you need to decide your goals and use for the car. Until we know that, there isn't much we can do for you...
