I was always under the impression that pre '94 the LS was b18a1 and post '94 was the b18b1. The differences from what i've read about are all in the heads as far as horsepower is concerned.
Different Intake Mani, cams and maybe even something about the port design.
I haven't done too much research on this so you'll want to search around to confirm but that's a starting point I guess.

I read that the later 92-93 B18A1 had that little extra because of the OBD1 factor. Better fuel/tunning

the 92-93 cams are a little larger than 90-91 but 90-91 has a 4-1 style header its so little that put them all apart obd-0/obd-1/obd-2

Answer too 10+ horses in 92/93's.....cams! The B18a1 was the motor in the 90/91 tegs and the 92/93's had B18b1's with more agressive cam profiles that provided more power. I have a 90 teg and have the stock 4-2-1 header, don't know were u heard about a 4-1. In 92/93 the was also the intro of the gsr models which had B17 V-tec motors (about 160 horse) and 94+ all have v-tecs...i think....isn't history fun!?

90-91 had 4-1 headers believe me or not and only the exhaust cam was a little more aggressive

Seriously. That one guy can't even spell capite right.

I'd try and correct all of this wrong information, but I'm really too lazy right now. So instead I'm just going to link you to http://www.g2ic.com

I agree...

NOPE!!!... came are the same from 90-93, the 94 up the exhaust cam is different. All 90-93 LS engines were B18A's and 94 up are B18B's. The bump in the 10 hp like already said was the OBD upgrade. The 94 up LS's had 2 more extra hp for 142 because of the exhaust cam, better intake manifold.

Not sure about the exhaust manifold of the 90-91 but I do believe other people have stated that it is the 4-1 and it probably is.

i would say cams, head, its just like the first b18a in 90 91 and they did a little more work and made 10hp and that is the b18a1 then after that the b18b is better then all just lil things they did to make it better. i got a 90 integra and i took the 4-1 headers off and gone 92 93 4-2-1 just for the midend.
