Default b18a question

I AM IN THE MIDST OF CHANGING MY TIMING BELT AND I HEARD A RUMOR. I HOPE YOU GUYS CAN HELP ME WITH THIS. I WAS TOLD THAT HONDAS (ACURAS) ENGINES WERE SOMETHING CALLED "INTERFERANCE ENGINES" AND THAT THIS MEANS IF THE TIMING BELT IS OFF (OR BROKEN) AND THE ENGINE ROTATES THAT THE PISTON IS PRETTY MUCH JUST SLAMMING INTO THE VALVES. IS THIS TRUe? AND IF SO CAN I STILL JUST CHANGE THE TIMING BELT AND HAVE THE CAR RUN REGULAR OR AM I GOING TO HAVE TO DUE WORK ON THE VALVES TOO BEFORE THE CAR WILL RUN PROPER?

ONCE AGAIN THANX FOR ALL YOUR HELP AND SAVING ME LOTS OF TIME AND UNDUE HEADACHES SO FAR.

yes they are interference engine, but they arent that close due to the fact that they all dont have high domed pistons and high lift cams. you have some room for error, but i wouldnt risk it i would just get a helms manual and take your time.
