b18a knocking noise ???
was just out driving my stock b18a, pulled onto a highway and gave it a little in first and second gear, like 1k rpms under redline. as im driving i notice i have very little power, so i pulled over. checked the oil first and its fine. a little under top dot. so i got in and tried to start it again, it wouldnt idle. while waiting for my dad to come to tow me, i tried starting it again. Now it idles just fine, just like it always does. but as soon as i give it some gas, it makes a knocking noise that gets faster as rpm increases. after like 3k rpm, the knocking gets really quiet and you can barely hear it, if at all. when i let off the gas, it drops back down to idle way faster than normal, like theres a lot of friction in the rotation of the engine. I have very little power and the knocking sound is horrible sounding. it is driveable and idles though. but of course im not going to drive it like this..
spun bearing or whats up? I feel like crawling into a hole.. lol
im going to take off the oil pan tomorrow and check the rod bearings for slop.
one thing i forgot to mention is that when i got home, i also noticed the timing belt has a chunk missing out of it, on the engine side, and a 3mm thick "strip" section cut out of it, also on the engine side of the timing belt. The strip and the chunk missing wasnt there before. what couldve caused that? and I saw this video, where the symptoms are the same (the noise) and it was a bad belt tensioner...

could it be the belt tensioner? i have a major loss in power though..

Fix the problems you've identified (belt, idler), check the oil pan (for metal) and rods..
Sound like you may have hopped a tooth or two, possibly kissed a piston with the valve?
Good luck
