Re: b17 on b18
It will work, but you can't use your GSR intake manifold on it. I would stick with your GSR head though and build that.

GSR head is better. Flows about the same, and has smaller combustion chambers.

I Would stick with that if you already have it.

Then buy it. Sell your GSR head for $400 assembled.

Re: b17 on b18
I would rather take the extra time to build my own, I've seen alot of people get screwed buying "already built" heads.
Besides, then you can say you did it, and claim bragging rights.

^ doesn't have to be online bragging

Build it yourself man. Sorry to say this, but if the guy is selling a perfectly built head for ag ood price, you have to ask yourself why?

Post some pricing details on the b17 head, and also what needs to be done on your head.

Re: b17 on b18
As mentioned earlier in this thread, the B17 head is just a PR3, same as any B16 head and same cast as te Type R

Both the PR3 and P72 heads are very good, one is no better than the other

^^ I think the P72 is better. Just my opinion, but I'm sure a lot of other people here will agree.

Meh, the p72 makes a couple hp to the wheels more in the low rpm, the pr3 a couple more in the higher rpm, big woop.....you wouldn't even notice it. I have both and tried them i many applications.

I don't know why anyone says one is better

Here's a dyno graph, stock for stock

Re: b17 on b18
ok i like this thanx

cuz i got 8500rpm at 7400rpm it pushes 165hp to the wheel and at 8400rpm it drops to 150hp
most ppl say it cuz i build my block but not my head so the air doesnt flow good after 7400rpm. thats why it loses power.

Does it really have to be "E-famous"
I mean I don't know how it is in your scene, but in MS, the scene is little, so the people who do their own work and build their own motors, get more respect, and if I build a motor and its fast, I'm gonna brag.

What all I said boils down to is:
Fast and Furious rant about respect.

They may have more material at the quench pad area but both heads have "quench pads"

If you look at both heads side by side you will see how very little more aluminum the GSR has over a PR3 casting. It's such a small amount I wouldn't even worry about it. I had both on hand and still went with my PR3. It was in better condition and I already had a port match intake manifold. If not I would have went with the GSR.

In the end the op should build whatever is going to fit his budget and is in better condition.

The GSR vs. ITR head topic is a beaten horse we all love to whip just once more...

It's all in good discussion lol

Re: b17 on b18
^^ You make a good point, but that little amount does raise compression, and helps with detonation a tad more.

i hope you realize the difference in raising compression is only 0.1

So if you had a b16 with 10.2:1 compression, using a gsr head would bring it to only 10.3:1

In my opinion, the "only" advantage to a gsr is the quench area of the bowls are just slightly better for detonation resistance under boost applications
