Autometer Pro Shift Lite Install
if you depend on looking at your tach to know what rpm you are at, you are an idiot either way because you dont know your car well enough to do any kind of racing. in drag racing we look at the road not the tach , so learn how to drive before you start talkin shxt.
Why not have a light that lets you know when? Do you really know the difference between 7600 and 7800? Do you know it enough that you can concintrate on the turn 95% and use that last 5% to worry about shifting?
I just see no reason not to have a shift light if you are going to AutoX or drag race..
oh man, I can focus more on driving now, damn it that sucks

I know when to shift when I'm bouncing off the rev-limiter... J/k!!
I look down at my tach sometimes, but only for a split second, I know it's not good not have your eye's off the road, but I'm aware of my surroundings and usually feel comfortable doing it.
Usually though, I can feel the engine running outta breath up a 8000k RPMs, I usually can shift around 7600-7800 without looking.

Exactly my point FrankGSR
You can shift around 7600 - 7800 with out looking, and you can look for a split second when you are comfortable with your surroundings..
but in AutoX/track you are not going to be comfortable with your surroundings when your going through a turn and need to shift, and you are going to want to shift right at redline.
You really don't need a shift light for daily driving, but its a good investment to make if you plan on doing any track/AutoXing.

Thanks everyone I just installed it and it works great, i mounted it on the steering column on the left closest to the temp guage. its a great unit, it comes with a 3000 rpm pill to test which was good(i didnt feel like reving it to 7k to make sure it worked) pretty straight forward, i used the cig lighter for my - and switched +, and the blue and silver wire on the back of the cluster(on the connector closest to the rpm and temp guages), for my signal wire. I would recommend it, i may even get a 4200 or 4400 pill for daily driving(dont really need it but its cool to have)
