Any One Have A Built Ls???
Well I was Recently thinking about building my Ls Motor up has any one done this i don't wanna do Ls/Vtec Or Anything Like that just wanna build the motor so it can be faster an stronger can any one recommend manufacturers an websites please greatly appreciated peace
well i used to be known as the LS guy. I built an LS motor...stock bottom end, 2 layer head gasket, corwer cams, ported head, jdm ITR tranny, ECU (most difference in the world) intake header and all that other bolt on stuff.
i could smoke a b16a equiped crx. granted i did have a somewhat light integra chassis already.
i wished i had never put all htat money into the LS head just to let you know. its easy enough to find a b16a head for 300 bux but you have to get the rest of the stuff to do the conversion. might be a pain but well worth it.
i
vtec

LOL, 270 isnt that rare on a b18b.
btw, this was on my shitty drag 3 kit w/ a t04b, I am willing to bet i made close to 285 after i put my new setup together, never dynoed though, but my top end gained about 15 mph, so i know i was making well over 270whp

thanks
car was running damn good for 1.5 years of boost, perfect compression the whole time, tuning is the key, EMS and wideband is what made my car stay strong.
Then it got stolen and wrecked

that dyno was only about 10.5~11psi. w/ the new setup, the car trapped 109mph in the 1/4 on firestone tires stock civics come with
it was a nice car, i miss it.

no chance at all but if thats what you feel go ahead

the crower cams i used were 62404 NA cams.
i was scared to rev past 7500 but i know that thing pulled past...prolly to 8000
only thing was that idle was a little lumpy. not bad tho. consider it vtec killer cams

Were you able to get it to idle at @850?

i heard ls/vtec's not dependable unless you get it blueprinted which kinda defeats the idea . i've been wanting to do it.

The only thing about the LS/VTEC is that for what it costs to build a nice one you could have a B18C1 swap.
The cheapest, easiest and most reliable way to give your car an extra 30 hp is to drop a B18C1 in it.
If you want to do a complete engine buildup it doesn't matter all that much which route you go. But if you're wary of actually building a motor from the bottom up, I suggest either swapping in a stock B18C1 or sticking with basic bolt-ons on the B18B.

Im in route of building an N/A ls motor...a Mech I met at a party has a setup I would die for. It consisted of 11:1 itr pistons, shot peened rods, balanced bottom and crower 403's...And of course the necessary mods; I/H/C/E and of course tuning.
The Ls has a fatter powerband when compared to the peaky VTEC motors...this car was like VTEC all the time, it can take out an R

An R/GS-R has shorter gears and VTEC motors typically have a flatter torque curve than what I see in that graph.
Sorry, but 152/120 isn't worth the expense of a rebuild. Especially considering the huge dip in torque between 3800-4600 rpm. A B18C1 with basic bolt-ons will make similar peak numbers and have a much more consistant torque curve, as well as better gearing.

Maybe a bone stoc R w/ a shitty driver. Why would u build an ls???? Turbo that bitch and then u can take an R. To build it to make hit 14's in the 1/4 is going to be $$$$$$. in other words turbo dat bitch!!!!
