you can't lower the mast unless you remove the entire unit from the car and cutting the plastic teeth off from inside the mast. then replace the unit back in..but if your going to go through all that trouble, dude, just buy another mast. Ebay has them for like 15.00 shipped if your lucky and oem. its an easy job. the only thing is that you will have to remove the broken piece thats coiled inside the unit. just remove the metal cover and take out the broken piece.

Turn off the radio and push down on the mast as the motor is trying to lower it. It should lower pretty easily. Disconnect the power connector behind the trunk lining to keep it down.

if yours is stuck up, just use force to shove it down. you can pull it back up later if you want.

if its stuck or jammed; and if pushed, too hard it will bend...then he's fck'd. then he'll have to go buy another.

I also believe the antenna requires power to operate properly. I had this problem too. I pushed the antenna down and disconnected the power. The radio stations became unclear and full of static.

I just plugged it back in and am currently dealing with the noise again.
