Default Alternate VSS gear ratios

Hey HT,

Did quite a bit of researching to comprehend the VSS system in the GSR and LS transmissions.

Turns out the VSS ring and pinion gear ratios do not change between the two transmissions so FD does not affect the output of the VSS because the VSS is located on the differential carrier itself.

Is there no body that makes aftermarket plastic gear sets that increase/decrease vss signals for different size tires?

From all the threads i read about people having issues, this seems like a no brainier to me...

get a good gps that way you know how much you're off by most of the time it's merely 3-7 km's(mph's). not worth the hassle of swapping vss gears.

S2000 people use a speed correction module. IIRC, it's called the yellow jacket. It should work on other cars too. Try hardtopguy.com

Or...yes, use a GPS speedo on your phone for free. As long as you have a GPS signal, it will work. You can use a bracket to place it on your dash.

I have not tested it yet, but most of the posts I have read complain about their speedometer being 6-10% high, small tires will only make this worse so I assume it will bother me.
Will defiantly use my phone to check accuracy.

The yellow jacket looks interesting. Pending results, I may decide to use it.

Thanks for sharing.

The only problem with using alternate forms of speed measurement instead of correcting the VSS signal, is that the odometer will be inaccurate.

This is why it would make sense to make alternate gear sets for the vss.
