almost hydro lock, please help
ok my parents ran the car though a deep puddle and it stalls and shuts off. He was able to get it going but at random now, it shuts off all the time every now and again. I guess there is water in it still and its not a engine shut down so what's up, how do I get this fixed? please help...

If you got it running, there is no more water in the cylinders. You might want to check to see if there is water in the spark plug tubes, maybe they splashed some water up into them and it is shorting out your spark to the plugs. You also might want to do a compression check to make sure they didn't bend any internals while starting it with water in the cylinders. If you hear a knocking sound, you might have a bent rod.

yeah, if you get water in your engine, and it makes it shut off, you really shouldnt start your engine back up again until you dry it out.
you should also check out your oil, to see if water is in it.
Take out the spark plugs and let it air out.

Unless you hit a pretty big puddle going pretty fast or drive your car into a lake i think you will be good with a short ram. It would be really rare to hydrolock with a shortram.

maybe consider getting a short ram as well as a water bypass valve just to be even more safe?>
I'm sure your dad brother and friend would all appreciate that.
a part that costs 50 bucks is pretty cheap insurance for smething that could end up costing a thousand bucks, or even more depending on what engine is in it.

Re: (Liu Kang)
check your valves. if the engine was warmed up when it hit the puddle and caused your car to stall, the valves could get bent. because if something is hot and theres a sudden temp change, that would bend the valve.

well, I looked at my parents car, I checked and changed the spark plugs, it not that, the wires look fine and I think I would hear it if it if there was a bent vaulve or anything major. I think its a sensor, is it possible that the O2 seonsor got too wet and it causing it to stall after a couple of seconds? what other sensors can do that?

I agree. Often when you hydrolock a car, you can have a bent rod and it will still be running, however, it will mess up the car badly if you keep running it. Sucks though that your parents fucked up your car... are they going to pay for it?

I don't know, it sounds fine when its running though, not sure if thats what it is. I was really hoping it was something small before having to drop it off at a dealer, anyone else think it might be a sensor or something simple?
