Default AEM Intake Problems

i installed my AEM CAI the other day and the past few days when i get out of my car i noticed a slight burning smell, but i couldnt figure out where it was coming from. i looked at my car today and i noticed that my filter on my intake is totally exposed and after further investigation, i noticed that it must have melted all of my splash guard and the inner fender liner away, now the filter is totally exposed.
ill take some pics and get them up shortly, let me know what might be the problem

thas a new one to me... didnt know that the filter could get that hot . or maybe the filter pushed the splash guard to touch and rub against the tire.

Check the splashgaurd fasteners...you probably didn't secure them very well. I had the same thing happen to me while driving at 80-90 mph on my way to Tennessee. The tire chewed up about half of the sg. Instead of buying new sg I bent some sheet metal into a high sided tray and bolted it to what remained of the sg and by the front of the bumper. I also punched a small drain hole in it so that if any water did get in it could escape. The filter remains dry even while driving in a downpour. Give it a try...I've been very pleased with this fix.
