ADVANCING TIMING
Hi guys,I advanced my timing this weekend to 18btdc,I was wondering what the pros and cons are of this, the car seems to be running a little stronger but I'm wondering if I'm risking blowing the motor?I did a search but it appears alot of previous threads are missing due to the new server.

There shouldn't be a risk. Honda says that the timing should be 16 +- 2 degrees. It helps to advance the timing at higher altitudes due to the thinner air.
How did you advance your timing, did you mess with the computer at all, or did you just twist the distributor cap?

So you put that thingy on the wires coming out of the passenger kick panel first, hooked up your timing light, then proceeded to twist the distributor, right?
i helps out engines that are performing in thin air? I live at a pretty high altitude, so if I advance my timing to 18btdc it'll probably equal that of a b18c1 running 16btdc? Civic SIR (SI in states) can run low to mid 15's stock or with little mods in vancouver cause of the sea level altitude, but they run high 15's to mid 16's here stock.
