97 GSR Not Starting .. Suggestions needed
Ok to recap some other posts. I bought this 97 GSR recently and I'm trying to get it on the road. The body and interior are great, the only problem is that that it has sat since 2011 due to a harmonic balancer failure.
At this point now I've pulled the timing covers & crankpulley off. Everything looked in good shape.
I replaced the tube seals in the valve cover, plus new denso plugs in, new NGK wires, and put the a new OEM crankpulley/harmonic balancer on
Went to crank and unfortunately this is what happened:
I checked all fuses inside the car and under the hood, they were fine (see pic below).
I didn't hear the fuel pump cycling from inside the car when I went to turn the key; I swapped out the Main Relay with one I know was good. The relay clicked per usual but still no noise from the fuel pump.
Next I loosened the banjo nut at the fuel filter to see if fuel sprayed when I turned the key to acc mode ... got nothing so I'm assuming no fuel pressure.
I'm assuming its a fuel issue but I'm open to all options. Thanks a lot guys

Video doesn't load. If fuel isn't coming out of the filter banjo bolt, then maybe your main relay is bad or you're missing a ground. The 15A PGM FI fuse is in?

An Update:
Today I pulled the dizzy, noticed the rotor was in bad shape. Tried to install a new rotor, screw head broke off. So I took a dizzy of a B16 that I believe should be good. It looked in great shape, we had new wires, like I said has new plugs still nothing.
I cranked while a buddy checked for spark and we got nothing.
Possibly thinking:
- Fuel Pump (ill get to that in a sec)
- Bad Dizzy/Dizzy internals (doubt this because we tried 2 different ones)
- Bad fuel injector
- ???
We checked all grounds, can't find anything odd there. I had already swapped out 2 different main relays. They both work.
Removed the seats to see if they were covering the fuel pump so that I couldn't hear it cycle. Got nothing when I turn the car to acc. Doesn't cycle at all.
Remember, still no fuel at the fuel filter when it should be spraying if the pump cycles.
I'm wonder if there's a way I can test the pump to force it to cycle or see if its even getting power, Could someone help me out there?
Really didn't mean to abandon this post over the past week but I've been slammed at work, but who isn't.
Appreciate all the help guys.

You should be able to hear the fuel pump even with the seats in. If you don't hear the fuel pump going, pull it out and replace it. Don't fiddle with checking wires and all that. It's usually the fuel pump itself. This is just from experience. Even if the filter is clogged, you should get a rough idle and it should start even if it runs like crap. Look into a fuel pump.

UPDATE:
Ok went to go test the pump with "hardwire" method. I spliced using this quick splice; here's a pic:
I later removed the other half of the wire just to make sure. I wasn't hearing anything when I would touch the battery, but I DID see sparks at the battery terminal so I'm assuming that means that it is grounding through the pump harness and power is being directly applied. If this is all true and I didn't miss up. Then a pump may be our culprit.
Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

UPDATE ...2?
Ok I was thinking I might have messed up the first test so I complete removed the stock harness for this attempt and went straight from the battery, which if it works should have made it run as long as the wires were touching the battery.
Fashioned these:
Connected them to the pump this way:
And touched the battery with the wires (blk tape for ground):
No sound. Literally nothing, except some sparkage noise from the wires and battery terminals touching.
I'm thinking pump. Objections?
Thanks again

The pump should run if you did that correctly. I remember when my friend accidentally put diesel in his integra. I used this method to pump out the diesel from his gas tank. All I did was apply voltage to the fuel pump like you did and the pump did it's job and pumped the diesel out of the tank into my bucket. I'm thinking your pump is out, unless there's some other problem like a relay that controls the pump, but in my experience, it's usually not the relay unfortunately. If you have high mileage and it's an OEM pump, probably time for a new one.

Re: 97 GSR Not Starting .. Suggestions needed
In my down time waiting for this damn pump I've been looking into other probs the teg had.
All the sparkplug tubes had oil in them, which I've been told are the spark plug tube seals which I replaced and I full expect to work once the motor runs.
BUT 2 out of 4 spark plug threads (the combustion side) were wet. All the research I've done is saying this is the "cam holder seal" which I can't seam to find a OEM kit on ebay for.
Others have said valve stem seals?
Can anyone confirm that it is the "cam holder seals", and if so, direct me on where to purchase?
Thanks alot

I'm still waiting on the pump to come in. It's projected arrival is Tuesday the 8th.
I couldn't confirm spark forsure since I don't have the tool to test it and holding the open end of a spark plug wire close to metal while cranking isn't 100% foolproof.
Looking to focus on spark if this new pump isn't the answer.

Update:
Still waiting on the pump. It was suppose to be in yesterday (the 8th) but it didn't arrive. I ordered it from high end auto sports in Covina CA, so I called them and they said they sent it but can't track it because of USPS bad tracking system. Hopefully it comes in this weekend and I can get to it by Sunday. Really hoping this is it.
Will keep you all posted

What you did there with the plug wire...there's a good chance that IF you had a functioning distributor you no longer do.
You can't run these distributors without a load, IE spark plug in place. To test for spark without a HEI tester you pull the wire, install a spark plug into the wire, hold the threaded portion of the spark plug on a piece of metal (ground) under the hood and crank looking for spark.
Waiting a week or whatever for a fuel pump is dumb. Cancel you order and get a pump from your local parts store.
You could also test to see if the engine will run by spraying starting fluid into the throttle body.

Ok So, After calling the supplier everyday since the "expected delivery date" of the 8th until it finally came on the 17th -___-
Out with the old and in with the new!
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
Hooked the battery and the main replay up and heard the sweet sweet wind
Recorder her 1st start in about 3 years. She started right up.
I have a bunch of codes & lights still on. I know the battery light is on because I don't have my ALT belt installed. I can't speak for the other ones
I hope this helps someone and please let me know what you all think. Appreciate it
