97 DC Clutch Problem

Stock all around... friend who owned car previously had clutch done at AAMCO about 20-30k ago....

When accelerating from a stop it makes a grinding sound, but it engages fine...and i can smell the clutch burning.... once i get going shifting in to subsequent gears is easier but still has a slight grinding when releasing the pedal...

Ive already gotten the opinion of a mechanic, I just want to hear what you guys think it could be

Ive checked fluid and its full... theres no leaks in the hydro system anywhere.... and im correct the hyrdo system doesnt need adjusting

No adjustment is possible. Do you think it could be your throw-out bearing? Maybe you have something stuck between the disk and the flywheel or pressure plate.

Yeah, that is what I am thinking. Maybe a piece of the clutch disk or a diaphragm spring finger sheared off and got stuck and prevents full disengagement of the clutch. It happened to me and it did the same thing that you are describing.
