95 DB8 Random stalling
My gsr for the past couple days has been shutting off at very random times. First day it stalled i was just driving normal, so then i pulled off the road and would'nt start. then after several cranks to see if i was getting spark it started up fine. Started to drive it home and it was running smoothly then outta no where it just shut off 3 more times while driving in gear. i was able to put it into 2nd while still moving and start it again. finally got it home. took off the distributor cap and noticed minor wear on it and the rotor and noticed little bit of brown dust. so i changed the cap and rotor. ran great! thought prob solved. drove all that evening with no prob but then at idle in my driveway waiting for someone, it just shut off, drove the rest of the evening with no prob. Then today it shut off while taking corner into 2nd. moments after that when i was accelerating on the highway it shut off at vtec? but then i put into second depressed the clutch and it started again drove it home with no issues.

3 years ago i changed the Ignition Coil and ICM and 02 sensor
1 year ago changed plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter
6 months ago had complete AC redone,timing belt, water pump, valve adjustment and most gaskets changed that were needed.
Yesterday changed cap and rotor
No CEL or Codes.
Just hit 160k miles

When it stalls, do all the dash lights come on as the engine dies? Or are there no idiot-lights lit on the dash until you wiggle the key?
When you crank and the engine does not start, does the tach needle jiggle just the tiniest bit, or is it dead-still?

thanks for the quick response....all the lights stay on in the gauge cluster when it shuts off. i havent had anymore prob with it not starting anymore. cranks up fine every time. whats the ignitor?
Ok tried it got good fuel pressure.... it shut off about 5min while at idle but started up fine. No stumbling or real low rpm. sits at 850 rpm at idle just seems as if i shut the car off to take out the key. but all the idiot lights are still on in the dash so still got power. Could a faulty ground or connection in the distributor cause this? My friend thats going to school for his ASE degree said that brown dust in the distributor cap means i may have had moisture collecting in it. i might try to clean all the connections

Cleaned off all the corrosion on all the screws and wires in my distributor. It seemed to work good. But on my way to the store after the car warmed up it shut off again and couldn't get it started. While talking to an awesome police officer who is a fellow Honda lover and working on it together, it cranked up after like 10mins after it cooled off. after much frustration while driving it today and lots of random stalling it gave up and i pulled into a parking lot. i couldn't keep it running then finally couldn't get it started at all.
i decided to go back to auto zone and see if my parts i replaced 3 years ago like the coil and icm were still under warranty. Most Honda-tech threads and what most recommend is the ICM. so got the ICM and it was still under warranty, got it for free
put it in and runs great!!!! so far so good!
